Abstract

The paper tries to assess an exhaustive literature review about social responsibility, through examining two different analytical perspectives. The task is more actual when considering the emerging debate about the evolution of the concept of the nature of firm towards less classical ideas. Starting from the question: “What does characterize business/entrepreneurship?” we identify two schools of thought, the neoclassic which encompasses in profit maximization what strongly characterize a firm, and the institutionalist school which addresses the equilibrium of a set of values and interests that a firm is able to represent as its social fine
