THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS: AGAIN ON WEBER AND KAHLER. The author dissents from some of the thesis borne in Andreas Greiert’s essay Der Wissenschaftler als Führer aus der deutschen Krise. Zu Erich von Kahlers Polemik gegen Max Weber (2002), which he thinks to be not grounded from a historiographical perspective. Greiert puts Weber close to Neo-kantism excessively, and distances him too much from the tradition of Historismus and of its supposed “naïve realism”. Furthermore, moved by the fair worry of opposing Weber’s and Kahler’s positions (also the political ones), Greiert risks to fail to appreciate some aspects of Kahler’s ideas on the neue Wissenschaft which does not coincide completely with that ones which were mainly in vogue in the George-Kreis.
