Four comb-like homopolymers have been obtained by radical catalysis from the acrylic monomers. The polymers have been characterized by 'H-NMR, DSC, x-ray diffraction, viscometry, and polarizing microscopy. Three of the polymers exhibit liquid crystalline properties of smectic type.
