The study of nuclear multifragmentation requires high quality data and new types of data analysis. The study of size distributions through their moments and related non-statistical fluctuations may allow to sign critical phenomenon and the influence of nuclear properties on them. The INDRA 4π detector has been specially designed to study this physics which requires a large dynamical range of detection as well as a clear cinematic separation of the source of fragments. The first experiments have been performed in 1993 and some preliminary results are presented.
