Previous experimental studies showed that the ratio between mortar and brick mechanical properties (i.e. strength, stiffness and Young modulus) influences not only the design approaches (in terms of basic assumptions and analytical models e.g. homogenization) but also the global response of the masonry walls in term of strength and ductility. A specific analysis is herein presented in the case of earth bricks or adobe constructions, highlighting main issues and variability in the behavior of seismic resisting walls varying the properties (i.e. soil composition, curing) of the materials used for the adobe production.
