Abstract

In this paper, the first stages of intracloud lightning have been simulated, by adopting a simple model for charge recombination inside the active region of the cloud, starting from a charge distribution deduced from experimental observations. Plasma discharge channels are represented by clusters iteratively generated through an "add-and-cut" mechanism. By using this simple model, the influence on the discharge dynamics of charge amount and distribution inside the cloud can be studied. Furthermore, the electromagnetic stress induced everywhere by the propagating discharge channels can be evaluated
