The paper discusses how an innovative approach allows controlling the truncation error in Near-Field antenna characterization. In particular, the method, here presented for the case of aperture antennas and planar scanning, allows estimating the dimensions of the bounded portion of the scanning plane wherein collecting the field data, the number of field samples to be measured therein, and their locations. Furthermore, the quasi-raster scanning is introduced, which allows a very convenient definition of the scanning path connecting the locations of the field sampling points. The performance of the method is assessed experimentally.

Abstract
The paper discusses how an innovative approach allows controlling the truncation error in Near-Field antenna characterization. In particular, the method, here presented for the case of aperture antennas and planar scanning, allows estimating the dimensions of the bounded portion of the scanning plane wherein collecting the field data, the number of field samples to be measured therein, and their locations. Furthermore, the quasi-raster scanning is introduced, which allows a very convenient definition of the scanning path connecting the locations of the field sampling points. The performance of the method is assessed experimentally.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
