A fresh approach for studying the charged particle beam dynamics in terms of Wigner phase‐space distribution is given. This is done by using a recently proposed quantum‐like model for charged particle beam dynamics, called Thermal Wave Model (TWM). Both analytical and numerical calculation are given for a quadrupole device with small sextupole and octupole deviations, and comparison between the model predictions and the results of a conventional single particle tracking code is presented.

Abstract
A fresh approach for studying the charged particle beam dynamics in terms of Wigner phase‐space distribution is given. This is done by using a recently proposed quantum‐like model for charged particle beam dynamics, called Thermal Wave Model (TWM). Both analytical and numerical calculation are given for a quadrupole device with small sextupole and octupole deviations, and comparison between the model predictions and the results of a conventional single particle tracking code is presented.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
