Fatigue tests on railway bogies are performed by repeatedly applying definite load programs by means of actuators. Between the commanded loads and the load cell reading relative to the loads actually applied, a difference will exist. A calculation method apt at evaluating the error connected to this difference is here presented, which is based on a special treatment of acquisition signal. It is also shown how to use aforementioned data treatment to evaluate uncertainty of measure for fatigue stresses applied to bogie frame.

Abstract

Fatigue tests on railway bogies are performed by repeatedly applying definite load programs by means of actuators. Between the commanded loads and the load cell reading relative to the loads actually applied, a difference will exist. A calculation method apt at evaluating the error connected to this difference is here presented, which is based on a special treatment of acquisition signal. It is also shown how to use aforementioned data treatment to evaluate uncertainty of measure for fatigue stresses applied to bogie frame.
