An iterative function is presented which explicitly takes into account the power radiated by the aperture source outside the range of interest and intrinsically implies a constraint on the superdirectivity of the reconstructed field. This function is designed to synthesize an aperture field with given radiation characteristics. Application involves only linear operations, and, therefore, the difficulties of the intrinsically nonlinear problem of power synthesis are greatly reduced. The procedure has been numerically implemented and some sample results are shown. An asymmetric contoured-amplitude pattern is displayed.

Abstract
An iterative function is presented which explicitly takes into account the power radiated by the aperture source outside the range of interest and intrinsically implies a constraint on the superdirectivity of the reconstructed field. This function is designed to synthesize an aperture field with given radiation characteristics. Application involves only linear operations, and, therefore, the difficulties of the intrinsically nonlinear problem of power synthesis are greatly reduced. The procedure has been numerically implemented and some sample results are shown. An asymmetric contoured-amplitude pattern is displayed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
