A Physical Optics (PO) based shape reconstruction algorithm for the retrieval of voids is investigated. In this case, besides a geometrical optics reflection, the presence of the lateral wave phenomenon must be considered. Therefore, we numerically analyze whether the lateral wave phenomenon impairs the performances of such an algorithm and we show inversions both, for one single or two circular voids, for di erent values of the background permittivity.
