A no. of isomerization reactions of the growing polymer chain have been shown to compete with the process of 1-alkene polyinsertion promoted by Group 4 metallocene Ziegler-Natta catalysts. The consequences of such reactions on the regioregularity and stereoregularity of the polymers are discussed for the class of isotactic-specific C2-sym. metallocene catalysts.
