The crystal structure of syndiotactic poly(1-oxo-2-phenyltrimethylene) is presented. The polymer consists of an alternated copolymer of styrene and carbon monoxide with chains having a nearly trans-planar conformation with tc glide plane symmetry. The chains are packed in a monoclinic unit cell with axes: a = 15.5 angstrom, b = 6.15 angstrom, c = 7.56 angstrom, beta = 105-degrees; the space group proposed is P2(1)/c.
