The diffusion of CH2Cl2 into a and b cryst. forms of syndiotactic polystyrene contg. planar zig-zag chains and desorption of the solvent were studied, and the x-ray diffraction patterns of the cryst. forms were compared. In the presence of liq. CH2Cl2, b-form samples absorbed solvent only in the amorphous phase (£30 g solvent for 100 g polymer), whereas a-form samples absorbed £60 g solvent for 100 g polymer and their polymer-rich fraction was transformed into a clathrate.

Abstract
The diffusion of CH2Cl2 into a and b cryst. forms of syndiotactic polystyrene contg. planar zig-zag chains and desorption of the solvent were studied, and the x-ray diffraction patterns of the cryst. forms were compared. In the presence of liq. CH2Cl2, b-form samples absorbed solvent only in the amorphous phase (£30 g solvent for 100 g polymer), whereas a-form samples absorbed £60 g solvent for 100 g polymer and their polymer-rich fraction was transformed into a clathrate.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
