Some possible kinds of disorder in the packing of chains of syndiotactic polypropylene, compatible with the maintenance of crystalline long-range order, are discussed and the corresponding models are described. The diffraction intensities at appropriate points or lines of the reciprocal lattice are calculated for the various models; experimental observations of the intensity lowering of some reflections and the appearance of haloes are explained with the models in a semiquantitative way. The possible connection of some kinds of disorder with the presence of configurational defects along the chains is discussed.

Abstract
Some possible kinds of disorder in the packing of chains of syndiotactic polypropylene, compatible with the maintenance of crystalline long-range order, are discussed and the corresponding models are described. The diffraction intensities at appropriate points or lines of the reciprocal lattice are calculated for the various models; experimental observations of the intensity lowering of some reflections and the appearance of haloes are explained with the models in a semiquantitative way. The possible connection of some kinds of disorder with the presence of configurational defects along the chains is discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
