The purpose of this investigation was to develop experimental data and check the validity of existing analytical models for the behaviour of concrete members jacketed (i.e., laterally confined) with fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) materials. The test specimens consisted of 150 x 300 mm cylinders of normal weight, normal strength concrete. Specimens loaded statically under uniaxial compression were studied. Three different types of passive FRP confinement technologies (i.e., braided aramid FRP tape, filament wound E-glass FRP, and pre-formed glass-aramid FRP shells) were investigated during the project with the objective of performing a qualitative comparison. Experimental results indicate that FRP jacketing significantly enhances strength and pseudo-ductility of concrete. With regard to existing models to predict the stress-strain behaviour of the FRP confined specimens, it was found that only the compressive strength enhancement can be somehow approximated. The prediction curves' shape and ultimate strain do not match experimental results, which can be simply represented by a bilinear diagram.
