The performances of forest parameter SAR inversion approach is analyzed using numerical analysis both in terms of the direct model and of the reconstruction capabilities. Different scattering models have been developed for the use of SAR data for parameter inversion approach. The direct scattering by the forest canopy is described by the distorted Born approximation. In the scattering model, the scattered field from the volume is determined by the first assuming that wave incident on each scatterer is the mean field which is obtained by using the Foldy-Lax approximation under the hypothesis of a sparse canopy. The scattering by each particle is calculated by restoring to the Generalized Rayleigh-Gans Approximation (GRPA).
