The effect of equimolar substitution of lithium or barium metaphosphate in boric oxide was studied on the glass transition temperature (Tg) and devitrification behaviour. Hypotheses on the structural units present were inferred from Tgvs. composition curves. The different thermal stabilities of the glasses were roughly evaluated. The devitrification kinetic parameters of LiPO3 and Ba(PO3)2 glasses were evaluated by means of thermoanalytical methods.

Abstract

The effect of equimolar substitution of lithium or barium metaphosphate in boric oxide was studied on the glass transition temperature (Tg) and devitrification behaviour. Hypotheses on the structural units present were inferred from Tgvs. composition curves. The different thermal stabilities of the glasses were roughly evaluated. The devitrification kinetic parameters of LiPO3 and Ba(PO3)2 glasses were evaluated by means of thermoanalytical methods.
