In the present study the prognosis of myocardial infarction in diabetic patients was evaluated during both the hospital phase and a follow-up period ranging from 12 to 36 months. 272 patients were examined; 74 diabetics and 198 non diabetics (control group). Both risk factors and clinical symptoms of coronaropathy and the clinical course of acute phase of infarction were similar in the two groups of patients. On the other hand the mortality rate was higher in diabetic patients, prevalently during the follow up period.
