The flow-induced concentration changes in polymers are analysed using the two-fluid theory of Doi and Milner, which predicts migration in flows with either curvilinear trajectories or non-uniform shear rates. Here we show that, even in simple shear flows, migration can be relevant since it can make the stationary solution with uniform concentration linearly unstable in fast flows.

Abstract
The flow-induced concentration changes in polymers are analysed using the two-fluid theory of Doi and Milner, which predicts migration in flows with either curvilinear trajectories or non-uniform shear rates. Here we show that, even in simple shear flows, migration can be relevant since it can make the stationary solution with uniform concentration linearly unstable in fast flows.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
