We report on the development of a SAR backprojection algorithm using a Non-Uniform FFT (NUFFT) routine implemented on a GPU by the Accelereyes LibJacket programming platform. The performance of the approach is analyzed in terms of accuracy and computational speed by comparisons to Matlab and CUDA versions of the same routine and to a frequently used alternative technique based on the joined adoption of the FFT and a sinc interpolation routine coded in LibJacket as well as in Matlab. Experimental results against the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) airborne data delivered under the “challenge problem for SAR-based Ground Moving Target Identification (GMTI) in urban environments” and collected under circular flight paths are also shown.
