The influence of a magnetic field upon magnetostriction and magnetomechanical coupling (k) was measured in new Fe73.5Cu1Ta3Si15.5B7 strips annealed in vacuum for 1 h from 400 C to 600 C. The maximum values of k (= 0.5) were observed. After annealing at 550 C the magnetostriction dropped from 24 x 10(-6) to 0.
