Solids budget is a key topic in water quality modeling of toxic contaminants because the particulate fraction of toxicants follows solids fate; thus, solids balance is required as a priority in toxicants modeling. The paper proposes a simplified non-dimensional model for solids budget in a lake in order to obtain a quick estimate for the solids concentrations in the water column and in the active sediments layer, which does not require the full knowledge of the input parameters involved in the model. This approach appears to be useful and consistent with the purpose to obtain a reliable tool in the management context.
