Pur se contraddistinti da contesti sociali, economici e produttivi differenti, i principali paesi europei presentano un comune scenario nel quale emerge uno specifico interesse per la riqualificazione del patrimonio edilizio esistente. La presenza di un consistente stock abitativo in avanzato stato di obsolescenza ha contribuito ad assegnare forte centralità, nel dibattito internazionale e nelle agende politiche di numerosi governi, al tema del contrasto alle inefficienze funzionali, tecniche ed energetiche degli edifici. Le strategie comunitarie e governative hanno infatti da tempo individuato nella riconversione sostenibile del patrimonio esistente uno dei punti qualificanti della politica tecnica in edilizia, riconoscendo come tale azione possa contribuire in modo significativo a ridurre l’impatto sull’ambiente del settore delle costruzioni. Attraverso le testimonianze di qualificati esperti, il testo fornisce gli esiti di studi, ricerche e applicazioni progettuali svolte nel Regno Unito, Francia, Germania e Italia nel settore del retrofit tecnologico, raccogliendo in schede conclusive indicazioni sintetiche sulla realizzabilità delle scelte tecniche in funzione dei benefici ottenuti in termini ambientali ed economici. Many European countries, even though with different social, economic and productive contexts, show a common scenery based on a specific interest on the refurbishment of the existing residential built heritage. Because of the presence of a wide stock in advanced state of obsolescence, many governments have been giving a strong accent on the fighting against functional, technical and energetic inefficiency of buildings in their political agenda and in the international debate on this issue. Community and government strategies have recognized that sustainable reconversion of the existing heritage is a qualified point of technical politics and an action that may really contribute to reduce the impact of constructions on the environment. Through the account of qualified experts, the following text provides the results of studies, researches and design experiences of technological retrofitting that have been developed in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy.
