Abstract

The work deals with the study of bioincrustations of several monuments. Microorganisms composing the bioincrustations were identified by using optical and electron microscopy, as well as by a molecular approach and a SEM microanalysis. Cyanobacteria and algae resulted the main components of the bioincrustations. A technique based on the use of microwaves is proposed to eliminate the bioincrustations.
