In the first part of the paper, in the setup of ordinary differential equations, a short review of our recent results on conditional and unconditional stability properties of time dependent sets is given. In the second part the above results have been applied to bifurcation problems for periodic differential systems. Some our previuos statements on the matter are revisited and enriched with new original results.
