THE WATER FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR COOLING Abstract: Increasing demands for comfort result in increased demand for air conditioning. The high energy demand of air conditioners with electric compressor requires new equipment capable of providing a sufficient environmental comfort with a fuel consumption. Traditional and innovative techniques are illustrated in this paper that cool indoor and outdoor air by the use of water. In the traditional architecture the cooling techniques, based on the principle of evaporation, have been substantially resolved by the introduction into the environment of water, stagnant water in ponds or lakes, or in motion, with fountains, waterfalls, splashes, etc. .. These techniques for cooling through the use of water have often influenced the evolution of building tradition resulting in various forms and ways of living. From those experiences, the research industry has developed innovative systems that offer high performance and that can integrate various building systems as well as guaranteeing significantly reduction of energy consumption.
