A suitable Human Robot Interface (HRI) is fundamental to enable efficient and effortless communication with robots. In the framework of the EC FP6 STREP Project on Intelligent Robot Swarm for Attendance, Recognition, Cleaning and Delivery (iWARD), this paper investigates the problem of configuring the most suitable HRI to be implemented on a robotic system for hospital care. In order to get a comprehensive picture of the potential tools available, the most important available HRIs are introduced and evaluated according to the specific requirements imposed by the environment and the potential users. Then, the selected interface is configured with reference to a delivery application.
