Aim of this study was the comparison of in vitro embryo production in the buffalo species using two different handling and storage media for cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs). COCs were recovered by means of transvaginal follicular aspiration and stored in a medium with or without the same hormones used for in vitro maturation. Although no statistical differences were detected between the two groups, a higher number of embryos were produced when recovered COCs were allowed to be stored in hormones supplemented medium.

Abstract

Aim of this study was the comparison of in vitro embryo production in the buffalo species using two different handling and storage media for cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs). COCs were recovered by means of transvaginal follicular aspiration and stored in a medium with or without the same hormones used for in vitro maturation. Although no statistical differences were detected between the two groups, a higher number of embryos were produced when recovered COCs were allowed to be stored in hormones supplemented medium.
