Popolazioni straniere e immigrate: definizioni, categorie e caratteristiche

Questo articolo è teso ad esplorare le possibilità di definire le popolazioni straniere o immigrate e quelle di origine straniera o immigrata sulla base dell’impiego di criteri complessi di identificazione e le possibilità di misurare tali aggregati attraverso i dati dell’ultimo censimento italiano. Vengono considerate prima le informazioni individuali e poi anche quelle sui genitori, queste ultime ricavabili però solo per le persone rilevate in famiglia come figli. Dopo aver individuato i nuovi aggregati che è possibile definire passando da un approccio monodimensionale a uno multidimensionale, quest’ultima prospettiva è stata considerata sia a livello individuale che a livello generazionale, cioè tenendo conto delle caratteristiche dei figli e dei loro genitori. Tale quadro di riferimento è stato quindi utilizzato nell’analisi dei dati dell’ultimo censimento, considerando le dimensioni complessive degli aggregati individuati e le caratteristiche di alcuni di questi (minori di origine straniera e popolazioni immigrate). *** This article aims at exploring the possibility of defining foreign or immigrant populations and those of foreign or immigrant origins by making use of complex criteria of identification and the possibility of measuring these aggregates through the data of the latest Italian census. The individual information is considered first and then that of the parents, but the latter made available only through the people identified in the family as children. After having singled out the new aggregates which is possible to define going from a one-dimensional approach to a multi-dimensional one, the latter perspective has been considered both at the individual and generational level, that is, keeping in mind the characteristics of the children and their parents. Such frame of reference has been employed thus in the analysis of the data of the latest census, considering the overall dimensions of the individual aggregates and the characteristics of some of them (minors of foreign origins and immigrant populations). ***
