Intensely GFAP immunoreactive elemnts were found dudring tail spinal cord regeneration respect to the intact spinal cord. Many of these cells are tanycytes because they are present in the subependymal layer and also in grey matter and are restricted to dorsolateral and ventrolateral parts of the canal. This robust GFAP-ir expression presumably reflects a changing role for these cells, which are, very likely, supportive to regrowing axons.

Abstract

Intensely GFAP immunoreactive elemnts were found dudring tail spinal cord regeneration respect to the intact spinal cord. Many of these cells are tanycytes because they are present in the subependymal layer and also in grey matter and are restricted to dorsolateral and ventrolateral parts of the canal. This robust GFAP-ir expression presumably reflects a changing role for these cells, which are, very likely, supportive to regrowing axons.
