The sorption kinetics of n-heptane (I), low-activity CH2Cl2 solns. and vapors, and moderate-activity H2O vapor in PEEK films were Fickian. The sorption kinetics of high-activity H2O vapor and moderate-activity CH2Cl2 solns. were Fickian with superimposed polymer relaxation as was that of CH2Cl2-I solns. where the sorption of I was enhanced by the presence of CH2Cl2. The sorption kinetics of high-activity CH2Cl2 was characterized by a sharp penetration front and was temp. dependent. Solvent-induced crystn. in CH2Cl2-swollen samples increased with CH2Cl2 activity. Sorption mechanisms were discussed.
