The building up of a data base requires a preliminary subdivision of architecture in main parts and distinct elements. It is necessary to analyze the peculiarities of each building within a general field in order to identify the basic elements, to be introduced in the main frame of a data base organized to be explored along interrelated paths able to permit different kind of investigations. That's why beside metrical and quantitative data, it is necessary to take into account also formal qualities of the architecture, able to describe its morphology in the frame of an interactive catalogue.
