The aim of the present work is to propose a computer assisted method, based on the fuzzy analysis, for the identification of sex of adult from radiographic cephalometry. After the identification on 41 digitized latero-lateral radiographic cephalometry of five anatomical repere (center of sella turcica, nasion, rhinion, point A, pterigo-maxillary fossa), distances and angles among such structures were calculated. The obtained data were used as input to prepare an expert system structured on the self-learning that, by fuzzy reasoning, implemented complex algorithms for sex identification. A 100% of correct sex determination was reached both on the cases studied and on the cases used as checking (out of the sample).
