«AUS DEM EWIGJUNGEN DER GREIS». EMPEROR FREDERICH’S SAGA IN GERMAN CULTURE. The paper focuses on some aspects of Frederick II of Hohenstaufen's myth, dealing with the German popular saga of the survival and the return of the emperor. This myth was constantly recovered in the most critical periods of German history. This paper consists of two parts: in the first, the late Middle Ages origins of the saga are reconstructed; in the second, some characters of its fortune in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries are shown.
