The paper is aimed at evaluating the feasibility of sediment slurry-sequencing batch reactors to the treatment of lagoon sediment contaminated by Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). Several experiments were carried out on the slurry obtained mixing tap water and contaminated sediments dredged in the Venice Lagoon. A lab-scale completely stirred tank reactor, fed with this slurry and operated as a sequencing batch reactor was used to assess the total PAHs removal efficiency. The degradation rates of two carbonaceous substrates (glucose and lactose) added into the reactor were also evaluated. The Oxygen Uptake Rate was analysed to monitor the in-reactor biological activity and determine the optimal operating conditions for the slurry treatment.

Abstract
The Oxygen Uptake Rate was analysed to monitor the in-reactor biological activity and determine the optimal operating conditions for the slurry treatment.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
