Chi sta lassù? I reperti metallici del sito montano tardoantico e altomedievale di Busa delle Vette, 1850 m s.l.m. (Sovramonte, BL)

Who Is up There? The Metal Finds from the Late Antiquity and Early-medieval Mountain Site of Busa delle Vette (1850 m a.s.l.) · The UPLanD project started in 2013 with the aim of studying upland pastoral landscapes within the Belluno Dolomites National Park. Between 2014 and 2018, research focused on the nivation hollow of Busa delle Vette (Sovramonte, bl), initially through surface archaeological surveys and later through the stratigraphic excavation of a hut discovered during the investigation via limited test pits. The metal artifacts found at the site and in the surrounding area significantly contributed to the archaeological study of the context, providing valuable information. In particular, the analysis of specific finds revealed evidence of more continuous occupation, oπering a detailed picture especially for the Lombard period and beyond. This study also led to a reinterpretation of the hut’s function: originally considered a simple shepherds’ shelter, it is now believed to have been used by individuals of high status, at least during the 7th century AD.
