Abstract
The preliminary proposals for the Venice Charter stressed the importance of innovative techniques to intervene on the “tired structure of the monument.” The document strongly confirmed the technical issue, amending the one posed by the 1931 Athens Charter, emphasizing the monument as an expression of values related to the historical but also structural aspect. In the 1980s regulations concerning seismic safety concerned the structural component of the historic building. Corroborated also by the technological development of computational methods, the interest is also found in the increase of various regulatory updates on the subject. The paper aims to trace some steps that this interest has taken. The objective is to grasp the 'reception' and management of the structural component in restoration, this also in a perspective of possible reasoning on the contents of guideline documents and highlighting some open questions related to both thought and technical approaches to architectural heritageI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
