Self-efficacy is traditionally considered one of the most important psychological constructs for predicting students’ success and academic performance. In this study, we focused on self-efficacy in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). For this purpose, we involved about N = 4000 secondary school students participating in orientation activities to whom the 10 item scale of generalized self-efficacy was administered. After verifying its unidimensionality through confirmatory factor analysis, statistical analyses were conducted to investigate the relationship between perceived self-efficacy and gender, type of school attended, academic performance and age.
