La comunità ucraina a Napoli: aspetti culturali e sociolinguistici

This contribution describes the main aspects of the linguistic practic es of the Ukrainian community in Naples. While the role of heredi tary languages, i.e. languages transmitted from the first to the second generation in diasporic contexts, is well known in the sociolinguistic bibliography, this aspect is only marginally the subject of reflection by anthropologists. In this paper, we will discuss data collected sociolin guistic interviews and we intend to discuss this data on the basis of previous ethnographic research. The results highlight the presence of a strong ethnolinguistic vitality of the group, which reinforce and strengthen the use of the language of origin in the second generation, alongside, however, an expansion of the repertoire of origin for the learning of Italian and dialect
