Pretreatmentsandfermentationofthesebiomassescangenerateorganicacidsandfurans.Manyliquidchromatographyprotocols havebeendevelopedfortheanalysisofthesecompounds.Organicacidsaretypicallydetectedandquantifiedusingdiodearray detector,whilefuranscanbeanalyzedbyusingrefractiveindexorultravioletdetectors.Inthiswork,theidentificationofsuccinic, lactic,formic,andaceticacidsandtwofurans(5-hydroxymethylfurfuralandfurfural)wasperformedbyultra-high-performance liquidchromatographycoupledwithdiodearraydetectorandionchromatographycolumns.Differentchromatographicconditions weretestedbyvaryingthecolumntemperatureandtheflowrateofsulfuricacid5mM.Calibrationcurves,peakresolution,limit ofdetection,andlimitofquantificationwerecalculatedusinganalyticalstandardsatknownconcentrationsforeachcompound. Theaccuracywasevaluatedbytherecoveryofthecompoundsinwheatstrawhydrolysate.Forsuccinicacid,thebestcondition wasataflowrateof0.6mL/minandacolumntemperatureof60◦Cwhileformicandlacticacidsandfuranswerebetterrecovered at1.0mL/minand60◦C
