Since the 1990s, the scientific debate on Public Archaeology has been enriched by various voices. From the concepts of communication and valorization, the "public" dimension of archaeology has extended, in a sort of methodological hybridity with economic, philosophical and sociological disciplines, to the themes of welfare, community and participatory heritage. One of the goals of this contribution is a possible definition of Community Archaeology in the context of the possible meanings and approaches of public-social archaeology. In order to understand how archaeology can be a strategic resource for the elaboration of a community-based model of the territory, we will address the case study of the San Sebastiano Cave excavation, which over time has been configured as a permanent research laboratory, an incubator of ideas for researchers and scholars from different backgrounds, and at the same time a training site for students and students.

Abstract
Since the 1990s, the scientific debate on Public Archaeology has been enriched by various voices. From the concepts of communication and valorization, the "public" dimension of archaeology has extended, in a sort of methodological hybridity with economic, philosophical and sociological disciplines, to the themes of welfare, community and participatory heritage. One of the goals of this contribution is a possible definition of Community Archaeology in the context of the possible meanings and approaches of public-social archaeology. In order to understand how archaeology can be a strategic resource for the elaboration of a community-based model of the territory, we will address the case study of the San Sebastiano Cave excavation, which over time has been configured as a permanent research laboratory, an incubator of ideas for researchers and scholars from different backgrounds, and at the same time a training site for students and students.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
