This article analyses the text of Tab. Vindol. 344, relating to a petition for justice. The author of the text describes himself as homo transmarinus and complains of having been virgis castigatum, even though he was innocent. The paper aims to reconstruct the dynamics of the episode, also reflecting on the problems of interaction between civilians and militaries in the provincial context.
