This paper examines the conflicting viewpoints on the conservation of Modern Heritage that emerged in the late 1980s and continue to evolve today. Through a critical analysis of cultural positions and conservation guidelines from Italy, the United States, Australia, and the Netherlands, this paper explores the competing claims for methodo-logical leadership in preserving Modern architecture. The conclusions highlight the latent methodological divisions between advocates of material authenticity and those who prioritize design intent. These opposing positions respec-tively reflect the divergent geographical and political principles set out in the Venice Charter (1964) and the Burra Charter (1979).

Abstract
This paper examines the conflicting viewpoints on the conservation of Modern Heritage that emerged in the late 1980s and continue to evolve today. Through a critical analysis of cultural positions and conservation guidelines from Italy, the United States, Australia, and the Netherlands, this paper explores the competing claims for methodo-logical leadership in preserving Modern architecture. The conclusions highlight the latent methodological divisions between advocates of material authenticity and those who prioritize design intent. These opposing positions respec-tively reflect the divergent geographical and political principles set out in the Venice Charter (1964) and the Burra Charter (1979).| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
