Discrimination and social stigma against the gay and lesbian community rimain persistent, influencing various aspects of their social lives, including travel behavior. This study aims to explore the travel decision-making processes of Italian gay and lesbian travelers, based on an empirical survey of 350 participants. Through the application of Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA), distinct tourism profiles were identified, revealing key insights into the travel attitudes and preferences of this community. The findings suggest that Italian gay and lesbian travelers prioritize destinations that demonstrate progress toward equal rights and social acceptance of the LGBTQ + community. Both groups favor destinations where they can experience safety and inclusivity. Additionally, the study highlights a significant portion of respondents avoiding certain Italian destinations due to concerns over past episodes of discrimination. While lesbian and gay travelers share some common concerns, the research also underscores notable differences in their travel decisions, particularly in terms of destination choices, travel companions, and transport preferences. These insights provide valuable information for tourism providers and policymakers aiming to create more inclusive and welcoming travel experiences for LGBTQ + people.
