The paper presents the first results of ongoing studies under the National Research Project 2022 “Security Town through Urban Planning” (SeTUP), which aims to develop a risk mapping model in green areas to highlight the spatial component and guide urban planning decisions. The paper focuses on top-down and bottom-up analysis of some parks in Naples. On the one hand, the analysis involves the multiple aspects of urban morphology associated with the four types of green areas identified by the City of Naples: gardens/parks, historic parks, neighborhood parks, and urban parks, integrating the visions of regenera-tion of some neighborhoods in Naples identified in the preliminary drafting of the PUC (Municipal Urban Plan). The paper shows the first results of the project with the analysis on the top-down real security associated with environmental risk (natural hazards) and crime dropped on the green areas and parks of Naples in order to select the case studies on which to carry out the bottom-up perceptual survey.
