«Agire sociale» e «relazione sociale»: l’incontro con l’altro nella sociologia comprendente di Max Weber

The theme of the encounter with the other plays a central role in the cultural-historical sciences, also in relation to the object that distinguishes and unites them. Positioning itself from this point of view, the essay presents an outline of the notions of «social action» and «social relationship», two very general ideal-typical concepts of Max Weber. The aim is to show by means of a significant example how Weber’s understanding sociology concretely works with and on the intersubjective horizon within which the representations that guide significant parts of human behaviour meet and clash, converge and diverge, in each case entering into a close connection.
