The hill of Poggioreale in Naples is a place dedicated to memory and burial. The Neapolitan cemetery system consists of nineteen different sites. Among them, the monumental cemetery built after the application of the edict of St. Cloud, presents a place dedicated to the memory of illustrious men. The objective is to analyse the management methods, the criteria for choosing the men whose memory should be honoured and the strategies to be developed today to preserve and enhance this heritage.
