This chapter briefly presents the main components and processes included in polygeneration systems, namely internal combustion engines, organic Rankine cycles, gas turbines, combined cycles, fuel cells, steam turbines, electricdriven and heat-driven chillers and heat pumps, solar collectors, photovoltaic collectors, concentrating solar power, biomass, geothermal, and wind and hydrosystems. This chapter also presents the main storage systems for both thermal energy (sensible, latent, chemical) and electric energy (batteries, hydrogen, supercapacitors, etc.); electric energy vehicles are also considered.
