The paper will deal with the design of the aircraft, starting from a market survey, conceptual design loop and preliminary choice of dimensions up to detailed design of an efficient high-lift systems and low-drag fuselage shape. Technological challenges regarding the design of low-cost systems for the flap/slat retraction and simple wing folding system will be highlighted. Aiming to an efficient optimization algorithm, it has been developed a new integration technique between CAD, aerodynamic and structural numerical calculation and examples deriving from this new approach will be presented.

Abstract

The paper will deal with the design of the aircraft, starting from a market survey, conceptual design loop and preliminary choice of dimensions up to detailed design of an efficient high-lift systems and low-drag fuselage shape.
